2010 Tahoe Polar Bear Swim in Carnelian Bay at Lake Tahoe The 20th annual Polar Bear Swim in Carnelian Bay was held as part of the Truckee-North Shore Snowfest events. The air temp was 39 degrees and the water was 39 degrees. Due to low water levels, the rocks were gnarly and very slippery due to algae.

Myrtle Huddleston's Swim from Deadmans Point August 24, 1931 Myrtle slipped into the chilly water near Deadmans Point, Nevada, on Tahoes east shore. Her destination was Tahoe City, 13 miles away. She had previously set the womens world endurance record by staying afloat 83.5 hours.
